Sainik School Goalpara celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15 Aug 25. Dr Numal Momin, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly graced the auspicious occasion as the Chief Guest. Col Dheeraj Kumar Vishwakarma, Principal, accorded a warm welcome to the distinguished dignitary, felicitating him with a traditional Assamese ‘gamosa’, a school memento and a school cap. The celebrations commenced with hoisting of the National Flag in the school parade ground by the Hon’ble Chief Guest. It was followed by an impressive ceremonial march past by cadets of the school, epitomising discipline, pride and patriotic spirit. In his address, Dr Momin extended heartfelt greetings to the school fraternity on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day. He exhorted the cadets and staff to honour the sacrifices of the nation’s valiant freedom fighters by discharging their duties with integrity, commitment, and a sense of purpose—thereby contributing towards building a strong, vibrant and progressive India. The celebrations also featured an award ceremony, during which, the Principal felicitated eight nominated staff members, in recognition to their devotion and dedicated service to the school. The programme concluded with sweet distribution among the cadets and a high tea, attended by staff of SSG and Bal Mandir Public School (BMPS).
