The closing ceremony of the All India Sainik Schools National Games (Group “E”) for the Session 2026-27 unfolded with splendour and high spirits at Sainik School Goalpara on 04 Sep 26, marking the culmination of five days of thrilling competition and heartfelt camaraderie. The mega event featured an exciting array of sporting disciplines, including Basketball (Boys & Girls U-17), Volleyball (Boys U-17) and Athletics (Boys & Girls), along with two co-curricular events i.e. English Debate and Quiz competitions.
Col Dheeraj Kumar Vishwakarma, Principal, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. In his address, Col Vishwakarma appreciated the exemplary sportsmanship, discipline and dedication demonstrated by the cadets throughout the Meet. He also emphasised that these qualities are integral to the ethos of Sainik Schools, which play a vital role in preparing the cadets to serve the motherland by joining the Armed Forces as commissioned officers.
The highlight of the ceremony was the prize distribution, during which, the individual winners and the champion teams of various events were awarded medals, certificates and trophies by the Chief Guest. He also felicitated the escort staff of the participating schools and the match officials for their contribution to the successful conduct of the event.
Sainik School Goalpara proudly lifted the coveted ‘Overall Championship Trophy’ as it clinched the top honours in Volleyball (Boys U-17), Basketball (Boys U-17), Athletics, English Debate and Quiz Competition. Sainik School Imphal emerged as the champion in Basketball (Girls U-17).
The mega event culminated on a warm and celebratory note with a high tea hosted in honour of the participating cadets, accompanying staff and the match officials. The Meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from about 300 cadets from six different Sainik Schools of the North-Eastern region i.e. Sainik School Imphal (Manipur), Sainik School Punglwa (Nagaland), Sainik School Chhingchhip (Mizoram), Sainik School East Siang (Arunachal Pradesh), Sainik School Goalpara (Assam) and a newly affiliated Sainik School under PPP Model, namely North-East Military School, Bijni (Assam). Now, a team comprising all the winners of various events will represent Group “E” i.e. Sainik School of the North-Eastern region in the forthcoming All India Sainik Schools National Games 2026 to be held at Sainik School Bijapur (Karnataka) in Nov 26.
